The President of Kazakhstan arrived on a working visit to the UAE

The working visit of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the UAE began.

Dubai, UAE. President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived on a two-day working visit to the United Arab Emirates. Within the framework of the visit, a meeting is planned with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

In addition, a package of documents will be signed during the visit, developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates in the field of tourism, transport, finance and other industries. It is expected that the central place on the agenda of the negotiations will be occupied by the economic block of issues. So, from 2005 to 2016, the gross inflow of direct investment from the UAE to the economy of Kazakhstan amounted to almost US $ 2 billion, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UAE reported. Mutual trade turnover for January-October last year reached US $ 285 million, an increase of 3.4 times compared with the same period in 2015. At the same time, the increase was due to an increase in Kazakhstan's exports, including agricultural.

A further increase in the supply of agricultural products to the UAE market is one of the most promising areas of partnership. Kazakh agro-industrial companies are exploring the possibilities of delivering various types of food to the UAE, and are establishing direct contacts with potential emirate buyers.

Cooperation is developing in the space industry. Last year, a memorandum of understanding was signed in the field of exploration and use of outer space. Kazakhstan is also adopting the UAE's experience in stimulating the financial market. During the visit, it is planned to sign a memorandum of understanding between the newly created Astana international financial center and a similar center in Dubai, the model of which Kazakhstan has adopted as a basis.

Particular attention during the visit will be paid to the energy sector. Both countries, possessing rich hydrocarbon resources, strive to develop alternative energy. The next important step in the Kazakhstan-Emirate partnership may be the establishment of cooperation in the nuclear energy industry: the national company Kazatomprom has “opportunities to conclude a long-term and long-term contract for the supply of uranium for the Baraka nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates.

For Kazakhstan, which this year hosts the international exhibition "Expo-2017" in Astana, the use of renewable energy sources is becoming a priority. The UAE became the first Arab country in the Middle East to officially confirm participation in this exhibition and receive one of the largest pavilions.

Nursultan Nazarbayev will take part in the X anniversary World Energy of the Future Summit in Abu Dhabi on January 16. According to experts, this particular event, whose name coincides with the theme of the exhibition in Astana ("Expo-2017: Energy of the Future"), will mark the beginning of a series of large-scale events designed to promote the exhibition in the Kazakh capital.
