The tallest building in the world Burj Dubai will open January 4, 2010

The official opening of the world champion - the Dubai tower Burj Dubai - will be held on January 4, 2010. This was announced by the head of the high-rise building company Emaar Properties Mohammed Alabbar.

"The landmark celebration of the opening of the world's tallest tower will take place on January 4 next year," said Alabbar, speaking at a press briefing. “We decided to officially open the tallest building in the world on the day when the current vice president and prime minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, became the ruler of the emirate of Dubai.”

According to the head of Emaar, the choice of the opening date for the Burj Dubai tower is "a modest gesture of recognition by the company and its partners of the merits of the sheikh, who is the creator of new Dubai and the creator of his revival." Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum became the ruler of Dubai after the death in January 2006 of his older brother Sheikh Maktum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who previously headed the emirate of Dubai.
