UAE Post Offices Start Issuing International Driving License

On July 10, 2006, the UAE began issuing a new type of international driver's license, which can be purchased at all post offices in the country.

The new UAE international driving license is valid in 170 countries. Under the blue cover is information in 10 languages, which should help drivers avoid language barriers. To obtain a blue book, you must provide a valid UAE driver’s license, a copy of your resident’s passport and visa, two passport-size photographs and a completed application form.

The cost of the certificate is 140 dirhams ($ 38).

UAE introduces new identity cards

New identity cards will be issued to all residents of the UAE, starting in 2007. A document with a personal signature, recorded in digital form, protected from any falsifications and manipulations, will save the population from the need to have a driver’s license, a medical and work card, and access cards to electronic services on the Internet.

Certificates will assign to each resident of the UAE his individual number. Identification numbers of foreign residents will be canceled upon their departure from the country. But the same numbers can be restored even 10 years after the new return of residents to the United Arab Emirates. Multipurpose, improved identity cards are issued to employees of ministries and federal departments. At the initial stage, 60 thousand people will receive them, including 10 thousand foreigners. The first “smart” identification card was received the day before by the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

14 registration centers are opening in the country, in which new documents will be drawn up. Each emirate has its own centers. The service for issuing new certificates will be paid.

Moskvich heads one of the largest construction projects in the UAE

At the construction site of the Dubai Tower, one Muscovite is working. Muscovite by education. His name is Muhammad Said. Under the supervision of a 48-year-old graduate of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, about 500 people work.

The construction site of the future world champion in height includes three large unique objects. Along with the world's largest skyscrapers, the Dubai Mall and Dubai Mall Hotel are being built there. The 42-story hotel, which will look like a ship, is being built by the Chinese in the newly created Dubai business center, under the leadership of Muhammad Saeed.

Muhammad has been working on a construction site, which should be completed next fall, for six months now. Construction is on the 5th floor, and the building itself rose above 45 meters, since the first floors of the mall are very high.

Lebanese engineer graduated from the university in 1988 and has been working in the UAE for 14 years. His current position as the project director of one of the most remarkable local new buildings is the highest in the professional career of a specialist who was educated in the Russian capital.

"The knowledge gained at the University is not only enough, but more than necessary, although there is no extra knowledge," says Muhammad. He expresses satisfaction with the results of a 6-year study in Moscow and regrets only that the time has not come for a proper assessment of Russian diplomas in the Emirates.

Only 4 Arabs are employed in the construction of the Dubai Mall Hotel. One of them is a Lebanese specialist who was educated in Russia. And he is the project director. Is this not a confession?

We are sitting in a traffic jam in Dubai, waiting for the train

New road problems will begin for the residents of Dubai this fall: in November, digging tunnels and the construction of bridge hauls for the city metro will begin. Over 12 km of railways will go underground.

Already now, the construction of the first subway on the Arabian Peninsula employs about 9,000 workers. The fare for trains with a maximum speed of 110 km / h has not yet been established. Earlier it was reported that the fare will cost from 3 to 6 dirhams. According to the latest information, the price of tickets will be determined taking into account the cost of travel by taxi, buses and abras crossing the bay.

The first section of the new transport system will enter service in September 2009. The Red Line will connect Salahuddin Street with the American University of Dubai and will pass through the Bardjuman Center and Sheikh Zayed Avenue. Later this line will be extended to the port of Jebel Ali in a southerly direction and at the crossroads of An Nahda and Damascus streets in the north. She will carry up to 11 thousand passengers per hour.

On the metro lines of Dubai will operate 87 trains of 5 cars. Each train is designed for 658 passengers. The intervals between trains during peak hours will be 3 minutes 45 seconds, at normal times - 7 minutes. Travel time "from final to final" - 71 minutes.

We will survive the construction of bridges and tunnels and breathe freely in three years in the wagons of the most reliable, safe and fast mode of transport, in the development of which Dubai invests more than $ 4 billion. Waiting for the train!

UAE millionaires have their own quirks

UAE millionaires are buying expensive yachts. According to Al Ittihad, the Dubai-based Duboats has sold 90 luxury yachts in the local market over the two years of its existence. The cost of the most expensive of them is approaching 17 million dollars. Demand for exquisite yachts exceeds supply.

According to the Sunset Fund (tithes, which Muslims are required to pay as income tax), the UAE now has 59 thousand indigenous millionaires. The amount of sunset that they have to pay this year is estimated at 5.5 billion dollars. It took the fund 9 months to calculate this tax.

The newspaper notes that the growing accumulations of local rich people are also spent on purchasing cars of the latest brands with individual equipment, clothes and perfumes. Al-Ittihad also draws attention to the fact that the tastes of millionaires in the United Arab Emirates are different from the addictions of their neighbors in the Persian Gulf. Bahraini, for example, are passionate about expensive cars. Residents of this island nation with a half-million population bought 22 Ferrari cars last year, which is three times more than three years ago.

Passion for cars in the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, where the total number of dollar millionaires is approaching 300 thousand people, is rampant. Leading car manufacturers in the world are developing special models only for Arabian Arabs.

Kuwait, whose welfare, due to rising oil prices, has grown significantly more than the UAE’s revenues, has been seized by motorcycling. From the seats of cars, young people transfer to Harley-Davidson saddles. According to British analysts, the number of motorcycles of this brand per capita in this emirate is the highest in the world.
