The rains last weekend in the UAE turned out to be man-made

The showers that hit the United Arab Emirates this weekend were the result of artificial cloud planting.

Bad weather reigned in the UAE from Friday, December 15, 2017, and is expected to last until Monday. At the same time, as it turned out, showers observed in many parts of the country, especially in the east, were of artificial origin.

Today, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has confirmed that in the country in recent days ten work has been carried out to conduct cloud planting to cause precipitation. Since the beginning of the year, 235 operations of this type have already been carried out. This procedure allows you to artificially cause rains.

Predicting precipitation caused by sowing is difficult and NCM is still collecting data on how much rain has fallen over the past few days.

The UAE sowing program began in the 1990s. Special planes regularly take off flights, with which, inter alia, rains past the spring of this year are associated. Sowing operations are mainly concentrated in mountainous areas in the north-east of the country. According to NCM, only harmless chemicals and naturally occurring substances are used in this process.

The United Nations predicted that by 2030 half of the world's population will suffer from a lack of water resources. There is little rainfall in the UAE, so in 2015, the country launched an appropriate research program.
