In the UAE starts a mass race on electric cars

Enthusiasts of the culture of electric cars are going to drive through all seven emirates, as well as stop in Oman.

On January 18, a motorcade consisting of electric vehicles will go on a nine-day trip to the UAE and Oman with a length of 1217 kilometers, during which not a single drop of fossil fuel will be spent, the organizers said.

After the success of last year’s trip to the UAE, enthusiasts made a new route, which included the capital of Oman - Muscat and the Omani city of Sukhar, according to a press release from Global EVRT, an organization whose goal is to popularize the culture of electric vehicles to create a “smart” and environmentally conscious society .

During the nine-day trip, the motorcade will pass through the deserts of Abu Dhabi, the mountains of Oman and along the coastline of the northern emirates. Electric cars depart from Abu Dhabi on January 18, drive into Madinat Zayed in Al Dhafra, and then travel to Suhara in Oman and Muscat. Then they will return to the UAE, will visit the emirates of Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, Umm al-Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah. The final point of the trip is Sustainable City in Dubai on January 26th. Thus, Tesla cars and other manufacturers will be visited by all seven emirates.

Cars that can travel up to 400 km on a full charge will be charged at stations at IHG hotels.

Motorists will be able to join the convoy from January 18 to January 26 - in Abu Dhabi (January 18), in Muscat (January 22) or at the finish line in Dubai (January 26) - with the option of driving an electric car.

Ben Pullen, managing director of Global EVRT, said that despite the significant development of the electric car market, consumers still have many misconceptions about the capabilities of these cars, and the race should dispel them.
