A photographer from the UAE won the Small World Photomicrography Competition.
Dubai, UAE. Emirate photographer Yussef Al Habshi won the Small World Photomicrography Competition microphoto contest from Nikon photo equipment manufacturer. The winning photograph shows the eye of a beetle in 10x magnification, reminiscent of a piece of jewelry.
The size of the reddest palm weevil living in the Philippines is less than 11 millimeters. The resulting image is a compilation of 128 microphotographs. According to the photographer, the main difficulty for him was "to show a black object on a black background" and at the same time maintain color balance.
