Dubai police announced discounts on road fines - up to 100%.
Dubai, UAE. Dubai police announced a new progressive scale of discounts on fines for traffic violations. The maximum discount amount will be 100%: in other words, fines will be lifted. The initiative is dedicated to the Year of Tolerance.
According to Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Murray, the Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, "starting today, drivers are not required to pay fines in accordance with the tariff if they comply with the rules for a year."
Moreover, motorists can now undergo an annual inspection and renew registration without paying fines, which was previously a prerequisite. Later, the fine will be deducted for exemplary behavior.
The initiative, like many others, aims to increase the level of happiness of the population and will work as follows:
- 3 months without violations - 25% discount on fines;
- 6 months without violations - 50% discount on fines;
- 9 months without violations - a discount on fines of 75%;
- A year without violations - a discount on fines of 100%, or cancellation of a fine.
Discounts will only apply to fines issued by Dubai police. It should be noted that car rental companies and business vehicles, as well as drivers who spend more than three months outside the UAE, are not allowed to participate in the action.
There are also no discounts for fines for improper parking issued by the RTA and for other violations issued by the municipality.
