You can now pay road fines in Dubai only online

Payment of a number of fines for residents of Dubai is now available only on the Internet.

Starting April 1, 2019, Dubai motorists will only have to pay their road fines online. This was announced at a press conference on Sunday at the Dubai Police Department of Traffic.

Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah Al Mullah, director of the Department of Integrated Quality Management at the Dubai Police, said that road fines will add to the list of 13 other services that are available only on the Internet. He explained that from April 1, fines can no longer be paid in customer service and traffic departments.

"This step is consistent with the order of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai, to reduce the number of customers in government offices by 80 percent," he said.

Khalid Nasser Al Razuki, Director of Artificial Intelligence at Dubai Police, said that 80.6 percent of clients currently use smart Dubai police services and only 19.4 percent continue to contact customer support in person.

"Our strategy is to encourage people to use smart services. Our goal is to reduce time, effort and costs. Our services are provided in seven languages," he said.

Colonel Juma Bin Suwaidan, deputy director of the department of traffic, said the police would launch an information campaign to transfer customers to online services.

“We have two customer support services in the Department of Traffic. They will be closed, and anyone who comes in person will learn how to use the service with our smart tools,” said Colonel Bin Suwaidan.
