Supercar for the fourth

POWER, ELEGANCE, SPEED, UNIVERSALITY, EXCELLENCE ... JUST PUT THE HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND ROTATE THE KEY. EVERYTHING BECOMES OTHER: THE ROAR OF THE MOTOR, THE SENSE OF TOTAL CONTROL ON THE TURNS, THE NEW PLEASURE FROM SIMPLE DRIVING ON THE STREET ... EVERYTHING WILL BETTER. THE FERRARI IS A SPECIAL LIFESTYLE.

We were one of the first journalists in the Middle East to experience the new and unusual Ferrari GTC4Lusso. Unlike most two-seater supercars, the GTC4Lusso is a car for four.

In the world, of course, there are many beautiful mountains, but in the Emirates the most beautiful mountain is only one: Jebel Al Jazz in Ras Al Khaimah. Everyone should go there. The driving rules there are not the same as in the lowlands: there are almost no cars, an ideal mountain serpentine, an even wide road, and as bonus-breathtaking views on the sides. However, the Ferrari GTC4Lusso had no time to look around.

So, what is the new model that manufacturers are positioning as a "family car for every day." Firstly, this is essentially a new version of the Ferrari FF. However, Lusso wins even if only because of its style: aggressive rear wings, muscular sides, large grille. In size these two cars are almost equal and belong to the type of compact sports car.

The interior looks more modern, elegant and luxurious than in any other Ferrari of recent years. A two-color panel with an aluminum insert, aviation-style ventilation, a spacious center console and a flat steering wheel with multi-colored switches and buttons, as in Formula 1. The front and rear seats are sporty. The rear seats, however, are not so comfortable and, perhaps, there will not be enough space for adults. But the front seats can be pushed forward, then entering and leaving the car will be much easier. The entire interior is trimmed with leather in various shades with numerous inserts.

On the technical side, the most interesting part of the GTC4Lusso is all-wheel drive: "4RM with E-Diff and F1-Trac, SCM and ESC systems." All of these abbreviations provide the car with perfect traction under any conditions. Four-wheel drive also gives it three percent more lateral grip when cornering. The rear axle with integrated electronic differential (E-Diff) helps to keep the road like a real supercar, and the front-wheel drive is very compact. The engine is mounted in front, so a separate transmission shaft to the front wheels was not needed.

All this may sound boring, but on the road thanks to these functions it becomes very interesting. The gearbox can be set to automatic mode, and then it will do the same thing that you would do yourself — moreover, probably better than you. We liked it so much that we did not want to return to manual mode at all. When we slowed down before difficult turns, the box itself quickly switched to a lower gear and the engine slowed down. In narrow tight turns on a serpentine, the car entered more slowly than more compact cars, but the grip and stability at high speeds were unsurpassed. It seemed that there was no need to think about anything at all — all-wheel drive and automation would take care of everything themselves. Frankly, we mocked the poor car as much as we could for two days, but the front and rear wheels obeyed us perfectly.

Sometimes the road turned into a sophisticated zigzag - short straight sections on which you can accelerate a little, then slow down, a sharp turn - and again up. Perhaps this was not the best road for Ferrari, because in any sports car you always want to accelerate to the full. But at the wheel of such a machine I did not want to complain.

As a result, the Ferrari GTC4Lusso seemed amazingly fast and powerful, but when it is comfortable and soft, which makes it acceptable even for parents with small children. Perhaps this is a universal car of the Gran Turismo class, which I do not want to part with. The first truly versatile Ferrari.
