Louvre Abu Dhabi will become the Maritime Museum

The Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) is about to turn the Louvre Abu Dhabi into a "museum city on the seashore" by integrating the sea into a museum project.

Ali Majid al Mansouri, Chairman of TDIC, called it the most important stage in the development of the Louvre Abu Dhabi. To date, the museum has completed work on installing a dome with a diameter of 180 meters, as well as installation work has been carried out. Currently, contractors are also involved in gallery facilities and office buildings. Upon opening, the museum will exhibit 12 unique contemporary galleries that, together with brought works of art from 13 leading French institutes, will tell visitors the history of mankind. Galleries are designed according to the principle of the Arab city, where guests can enjoy visiting separate rooms with temporary exhibitions, a children's museum, an auditorium, cafes, restaurants, shops, a research center and gardens. In January, TDIC announced the transfer of the Louvre to Abu Dhabi this year.
