Sharjah will introduce new hotel classification criteria

The Sharjah Office of Commerce and Tourism Development (SCTDA) intends to introduce new criteria for the classification of hotels in order to increase the volume of tourist flow in the emirate.

To jointly resolve this issue, the department organized a meeting with the heads of hospitality companies, which was attended by 60 people. In particular, during the meeting, a draft of the new scheme was discussed, as well as the latest amendments to Sharjah Executive Council Decree No. 16, which was issued in 2008. Muhammad Ali Al Numan, chairman of the SCTDA, said that the new requirements will be aimed at improving the quality of tourist services and further economic growth of the emirate. "The new standards will expand the opportunities for the growing number of Sharjah guests, offer them higher standards of service and will help attract new investments in the hospitality sector," the department head explained. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the administration and representatives of the hospitality industry, which relies on the entire tourism business in the region.

In turn, the participants also welcomed new initiatives and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation. "Improving the quality of service will directly affect the growth of tourist flow. This also corresponds to changes in the global tourism market and the needs of the emirate itself," Al Numan said.
