From May 1, 2012 in Abu Dhabi will increase the fare for a taxi

According to Muhammad Hussein Al Tosani, director of the state regulatory authority for the taxi sector TransAD Franchise and Licensing, from May 1, taxi fare increases in the metropolitan emirate. In particular, the landing fee will be increased by 50 fils during the day and will thus amount to 3.5 dirhams (US $ 0.9). The daily rate in Abu Dhabi is the provision of taxi services from 6.00 to 22.00.

Fee for landing at night will be increased by 40 fils and will be 4 dirhams (US $ 1.09). According to Al Tosani, the increase in tariffs applies only to "silver" taxis in the capital of the UAE.

As for payment by meter, the cost of one kilometer during the day will increase by 27 fils, at night - by 36 fils. The fixed minimum fare for the night will now be 10 dirhams (US $ 2.7), which will contribute to the greater availability of this type of public transport. For a wait exceeding five minutes, passengers will pay 50 fils per minute.

Disabled passengers using taxi services will receive a 50% discount.

Recall that TransAD consists of several private transport companies, including the Tawasul Transportation Company, Cars Taxi, National Transportation Company, Al Ghazal Transport, Q-Link Transport, Emirates Taxi and Arabia Taxi, and operates 7 thousand silver taxis that replaced white-yellow taxis used by residents of the emirate earlier for several decades
