In Sharjah 155 confiscated cars were under "house arrest"

Sharjah police detained 155 cars for various serious traffic violations.

155 vehicles were evacuated by Sharjah police for gross traffic violations committed since early November. Authorities ordered their owners to park cars at home by installing GPS trackers that track the movement of vehicles.

The police allowed the owners to drive the vehicle no further than 50 meters from the house. If the car drives beyond the prescribed distance, a warning signal will be sent to the police, as a result of which the term of the arrest will be doubled.

This was announced by Major Abdul Rahman Khater, director of the Sharjah Police Information and Communication Division, during a meeting with reporters.

According to him, owners of detained cars will also be required to pay fines for violations. However, the GPS tracker installed in the car is issued to the intruder for free.

Police officers will also remove license plates from the vehicle and enter the registration number into a database open for use by law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

Deputy Director of the Department of Traffic, Saud Al Shaiba, emphasized that the Sharjah police have recently introduced these rules, they are connected with the lack of places in the fine parking lots of police stations.

The Road Transport Administration includes four services: road patrol, control and investigation, road transport and rescue.

At peak hours in the morning and in the evening, patrols operate at all intersections of the city to regulate traffic and prevent congestion.

"The traffic police is making great efforts to develop a law enforcement system to improve the quality of life of citizens," said Saud Al Shaiba.

Also, speaking about the services provided to residents in the Department of Traffic Control, he noted that in the institution some categories of citizens, such as pregnant women and older people, can use special services: get a wheelchair for free, reserve a parking space, etc. d.
